Italian documentary filmmaker Davide Ferrario, who specializes in what he calls "on the road" documentaries, decided to retrace Primo Levi's steps in modern Europe. It was a wise choice. Go to Full Review

Primo Levi's Journey is a rather unfocused but ultimately provocative portrait of Eastern Europe. Go to Full Review

It's told in such a messy and questionable way to unintentionally diminish Levi's more striking and dark tale. Go to Full Review

03/02/2008 Interesting documentary retracing Primo Levi's journey back from Auschwitz and what the life is like nowadays in the places he stayed then. See more 09/06/2007 I thought this movie was perfect. There are voice-overs from Levi's writing about his travels, but there is no effort wasted in trying to recreate the time through costumes and fake Howitzers. The movie instead does a an ADD montage of Levi's holocaust memorials and the post WWII history of the places he traveled. If you want to know Levi, read the book. This movie is about following his footsteps and understanding Eastern Europe through comparison. I LOVED it. See more 09/06/2007 This movie was really boring and we walked out See more 08/31/2007 Aside from being narrated with bits from Levi's writings, this doesn't really have a lot to do with him. It follows his European trek and lacks a sense of coherence. Occaisionally entertaining and always well-meaning, but still a miss. See more 08/04/2007 Good, fairly orthodox doco.
