Mark Holcomb Time Out Rated: 4/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times Italian documentary filmmaker Davide Ferrario, who specializes in what he calls "on the road" documentaries, decided to retrace Primo Levi's steps in modern Europe. It was a wise choice. Rated: 4/5 Nov 2, 2007 Full Review Ella Taylor L.A. Weekly Fascinating. Audience Member Interesting documentary retracing Primo Levi's journey back from Auschwitz and what the life is like nowadays in the places he stayed then. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought this movie was perfect. There are voice-overs from Levi's writing about his travels, but there is no effort wasted in trying to recreate the time through costumes and fake Howitzers. The movie instead does a an ADD montage of Levi's holocaust memorials and the post WWII history of the places he traveled. If you want to know Levi, read the book. This movie is about following his footsteps and understanding Eastern Europe through comparison. I LOVED it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was really boring and we walked out Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Aside from being narrated with bits from Levi's writings, this doesn't really have a lot to do with him. It follows his European trek and lacks a sense of coherence. Occaisionally entertaining and always well-meaning, but still a miss. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Good, fairly orthodox doco. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
