Audience Member The studio described Badlanders as "Mad Max meets American Gladiators". Mad Max meets a short bus would've been more fitting. There's a very solid argument to be made that this was originally a porno - it was one pizza guy and (or) plumber during the virgins scene away from fitting the bill - that ended up getting its steamy, erotic sex scenes replaced with a nonsensical, misguided stab at a plot. The acting and writing are certainly two valid points in defense of it. This Max Max rip-off is even worse than most, but I have to admit I still enjoyed it. The story, such as it is, involves our wrongfully imprisoned hero sent to the titular prison planet (which is a Road Warrior-like) version of criminal run society of "Escape from New York). In this film, the prisoners also attempt to escape by organizing a revolt. Dumb, but there is some terrible post apocalyptic hair & outfits, dusty ridiculously modified muscle cars, and lots of silly action. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Hammy performances and unoriginality galore. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member It is cheaply made, but the money was enough to fill it with stupidity. After a writen introduction, two rebel agents are breaking into some building... it seems they are looking for some valuable piece of information... but they are just looking for a way of getting the guy into Prison Planet to find the old king of an opressed planet; the old king is key to help rebelion free the opressed planet, or something like that because is not very clear. From there they move to Prison Planet and start a sucession of clumsy dialogues, awful performances, pleanty of mistakes, and a terrible screenplay. The action that takes place does not make sense, just as the Prison Planet itself, and it just seems to be an excuse for very cheap-cheese action shoots.
