Nigel Watson Starburst In the hands of director Nicholas Humphries we get a very dark, nightmarish, swear-filled, convoluted, and claustrophobic vision of alien contact that is shocking and draining. Cooper jackiekcooper.com A somewhat interesting sci-fi film that has better acting and script than you might expect. Bodes well for the cast and crews future potential. Jared L I don't want to say it's terrible. A part of me really wants to like this. More time getting to know the characters, at least the 2 leads. I would have appreciated knowing why the government guy was so attached to Sara earlier on so we knew what the stakes were. My guess is this is mostly budget restrictions. Give them a bigger budget and I think they could have done much better. It has a lot that could have been expanded on. I think the writer took inspiration from "Edge of Tomorrow" (AKA Groundhog Day with aliens). Subplot about the transponders vanished then reappeared in a really unsatisfying way. Majority of the movie takes place in a grotesque stomach-like enclosure where 6 people are covered in goop and are in some kind of psychological torture / support group. No one theme or feeling ever gets a chance to take hold. We're screaming, then we're drinking cocoa in our memories. The ending doesn't make a lot of sense. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/24 Full Review __ _ It didn’t really make sense, and the plot never went anywhere. A lot of narratives, tropes, and cliches were brought up out of nowhere to move the plot forward and then immediately dropped as soon as they weren’t important anymore. Several of the characters had really odd shifts in their personality that came completely out of nowhere, seemingly only for the purpose of allowing the story to move forward. The whole story lacked focus. Also the dialogue was very stiff and unnatural. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/24 Full Review Bobby J Let me start by saying that at every suspenseful moment where you think there will be some awesome reveal, there isn't. The plot makes almost zero sense and drops way negative as the movie wraps up. This is one of the few movies that I wish I could unwatch and get that time of my life back. I literally got online to leave a review because I'm so angry and I hope this saves somebody from wasting their time. It must have had a really low budget too because most of it happens in a tiny dark room. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Brandt A I'm seeing all these terrible reviews and I'm glad I disregarded them. This movie wasn't a blockbuster by any means but it was pretty cool and had something original as opposed to all the other end of days/post apocalypse/brain sucking/alien abduction movies we've all seen time and time again. It was short sweet and to the point and didn't drag on and on like some of other 3.5 hour sci-fi epic movies. The ending could've been better, but I enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/05/24 Full Review KB B It's not best sci-fi movie. Don't bother with this one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review David O Finally some original sci Fi that is thought provoking. No Holly Wood drivel with over the top effects, just a good story.
