Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review Alright, but in a sort of rubbish way... Jun 16, 2020 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Demeusy is talented, and while his debut isn't all that fresh or original, the filmmaker's presentation of the material is still notably impressive. Rated: 2/4 May 23, 2020 Full Review Peter Travers Rolling Stone This low-budget tale of alien abduction is an in-and-out impressive calling card for debuting feature writer and director Eric Demeusy. who gets the look right but slips up on bringing depth to the script and getting past his Spielberg fixation. Rated: 2/5 May 15, 2020 Full Review Nick Levine NME (New Musical Express) His directorial debut might star the beardy prophet, but the saviour of cinema Eric Demeusy is not... Rated: 2/5 May 11, 2021 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...wide-eyed credulous attitude, ingenious effects and home-spun values make for some fun family fare... Rated: 3/5 Feb 22, 2021 Full Review Sarah Musnicky Nightmarish Conjurings PROXIMITY is a film that shows director Eric Demeusy's potential, but the overall product reads as more stale rather than exciting Rated: 3/10 Jun 21, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member The film is a very basic "the alien abducted me" kinda film. The plot twist will either blow your mind or make you laugh -> it all depends on what's hanging on the wall of your living room (you'll understand when/if you'll see the movie) The acting: the actors and actresses are trying their best, it's visible. But clearly there's an issue. Particularly with the emotions and faces they do...it's both too much and not enough: it's very difficult to relate. The dialogues: yeah...they're bad. It doesn't flow very well and it's loooong and it really feels forced, as in: "ok now here's a scene where the two characters are going to connect" -> which leads to two characters looking in the horizon blabbing about emotions...that their faces can't express :') The story: is basic and a little disappointing It's visible that someone put love and efforts in that movie, somewhere, but it's equally visible that not everybody did. Bonus point: I'd say Highdee Kuan despite the writing of her role, does the best job at acting in this movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Jimmy H Proximity kicks off with an intriguing premise but quickly spirals into a mess of bad dialogue, underwhelming acting, and a plot that tries to be deep but ends up feeling hollow. What could’ve been a compelling sci-fi mystery turns into a low-budget, cliché-ridden chase that loses all momentum halfway through. It’s a shame, because the concept had potential—but the execution feels more like a student film than a cinematic experience. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review Glenn H Released in 2020, the locations are gorgeous. The musical score is reminiscent of 1990s Weird Science. The acting is from 80s after school specials, and the cyborg cops are really just 1970s Sleestaks from Land of the Lost stumbling around. I enjoyed the concept - right up until the aliens came back looking for Jesus. Omg. For real? Lol. I gave up and didnt finish it. I strongly suspect that they found a tract from Baptists, or Mormon missionaries ascended to their planet. Id like to think the film ended with the aliens starting a little church outside of death valley in the desert and area 51 cultists come together to sing kumbayah. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Juan Pablo H It is a very strong contender for one of the worst movies ever made. Have you ever wondered, why did the chicken cross the street? Well in this case, the question is why did the aliens cross the universe. And the answer, besides being done for the price of perhaps 3 McDonald's burgers, is, to look for Jesus. It is unbearably bad. I just saw my first biblical adventure though. But, kind of told in a Sci-Fi-ish way. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review thomas t The most interesting here is how they managed to raise funds for making it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/25 Full Review rex b Special affects were great ! Storyline is wavering but kept our interest - very creative well put together the music was great edit was fabulous - I’d see it again fun movie to watch with kids and those into another dimension Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
