After surviving a Nazi death camp, Polish doctor Adam Kelno (Anthony Hopkins) escapes to England. He devotes 20 years of his life to upgrading public health standards in Arabia and is knighted on his return, becoming a national hero. Kelno's world is shaken by an American writer (Ben Gazzara), whose book defames Kelno as a war criminal who participated in Nazi medical experiments. Audience Member Saw this in 1974. Still haunts me. Worth seeing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent performances from Anthony Hopkins and Leslie Caron only go so far to help this miniseries overcome both overlength and the despicable character portrayed by Ben Gazzara. Are we suppose to applaud this jerk who forces someone to relive the horrors of the Holocast to serve his own ends and allows him to be blackmailed with the threat of the loss of his family even it he feels it is in the course of justice. Where is that man's justice? Not saying that what the other character is accused of isn't reprehensible too. Lee Remick is listed as a star of this but her appearance here is strictly window dressing added for marquee value. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This mini-series (it's five hours long) is a wonderful exploration of choice, evil, freedom, and responsibility to humanity. Anthony Hopkins give a wonderful performance, as does Ben Gazzara and Lee Remick. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
