Joe Leydon Variety Mostly, it’s a competent yet uninspired overview of events before and during the globetrotting series of races that comprised the 1983 World Rally Championship. Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Derek Sante KSNV (Las Vegas) This is a fun film that race fans will enjoy, but might be more interesting to older film fans. Rated: B May 23, 2024 Full Review Kevin Wight The Wee Review There is... little to entice the viewer into either the boardroom or the literal mechanics of the sport Rated: 2 Feb 28, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Director Stefano Mordini uses the colourful locations well, nicely recreating the period, and the passionate competitors to set this apart from similar movies. Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Katie Hogan FILMHOUNDS Magazine Race for Glory is entertaining in spurts but lacks a sense of competition or intrigue. Rated: 2/5 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Even though the racing scenes don't rivet you the way they do in [similar] films, the story is really quite interesting. Redbil A There is a Jeremy Clarkson documentary piece which is available on YouTube, which will add the details and context that is missing from the film. If you could splice both films together you get a superior movie. Quite watchable though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/29/24 Full Review John B I created an account just to say how bad this movie is. If you're a group B fan you're going to have a bad time watching this. I'm a huge motor sport fan, driver and rally navigator. I grew up watching footage of group B and reading about these insane cars and drivers. This film does absolutely nothing to portray what it was actually like for the drivers, teams and spectators. It's loosely based on real events that happened but didn't seem to make any attempt to show what it was actually like. These cars were FAST and extremely dangerous! Yet this film doesn't seem to make any effort make it look like they're moving quickly. Perhaps they got loaned the actual cars but weren't allowed to show them going fast? I really wanted this to be good as it was an amazing racing series and a crazy story that Lancia beat Audi. Terrible script, nonsensical directing, bad casting, bad acting on the most part and just a general swing and a miss. It's like the script was written by some people on a coke bender who just read the story off Wikipedia but had no idea what group B was and still don't. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/24 Full Review Graham S Potentially good, but was anyone else struggling to hear what was being said when they were speaking English? The background sound/music was loud and I was almost relieved when they were speaking in German or Italian and I could read the subtitles. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Fabio B I was skeptical to see Riccardo Scamarcio wearing the clothes of a legend like Cesare Fiorio. Finally, I was wrong. The tenacy and the obsession of Fiorio has been magistrally interpreted. I have been in tention till the end, notwithstanding I already know the final result of the WRC for 83. Well done! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Giuseppe G As an italian, I registered to Rotten Tomatoes and I'm writing this review just to say sorry on their behalf. This movie is painful to watch. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Marco C The movie tries too hard to follow in Rush's footsteps. Much of the impact is lost between characters which lack any real depth, and the cinematography which feels bland in comparison to Rush, said comparison feeling even more necessary given the presence of Daniel Brühl in both movies. Scamarcio feels like a miscast for Fiorio, monotone and lacking emotion in his voice, he kinda feels tired throughout and doesn't really embody the figure of a sly, knowledgeable and capable team manager. Brühl feels reduced to a mere speck of a character and that's a shame as I loved him as Lauda. I liked Walther Röhl's depiction, although his honey obsession feels borderline ridiculous, and while it might be a true aspect of the real figure, it feels pretty silly. I would've loved a bigger focus on the development of the Quattro and the 037 as the 4-wheel drive stunt is what allowed Audi to dominate in the first place. The soundtrack feels generic and not at all evocative. Ultimately the movie fails to recapture Rush's excitement and thrill, a real shame since I was really excited for this to make me feel those sensations again. Would only recommend if you're a fan of Group B. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
