Joe Leydon Variety Mostly, it’s a competent yet uninspired overview of events before and during the globetrotting series of races that comprised the 1983 World Rally Championship. Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Derek Sante KSNV (Las Vegas) This is a fun film that race fans will enjoy, but might be more interesting to older film fans. Rated: B May 23, 2024 Full Review Kevin Wight The Wee Review There is... little to entice the viewer into either the boardroom or the literal mechanics of the sport Rated: 2 Feb 28, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Director Stefano Mordini uses the colourful locations well, nicely recreating the period, and the passionate competitors to set this apart from similar movies. Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Katie Hogan FILMHOUNDS Magazine Race for Glory is entertaining in spurts but lacks a sense of competition or intrigue. Rated: 2/5 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Even though the racing scenes don't rivet you the way they do in [similar] films, the story is really quite interesting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review Miguel C Just made an account to say how bad this movie is if you're a rally Fan. Röhrl has spoke out about not being asked anything in advance for this movie which obviously shows the lack of interest in reality from the producers. The story is nothing like the reality, though the aspect of Lancia as an underdog is quite entertaining. The shots of the cars driving are horrendous and nothing like the breathtaking speed Group B was known for. Some parts of the Story are entirely made up: the first scene with Walter and his bees, the doctor for Lancia and probably other stuff about Walter himself as well. All in all I would say can be an entertaining movie for people who don't know much about that year of Rally and are looking for a story with some entertaining parts. But as a Rally movie which could have portrayed the stunning story of the year 1983, while capturing the atmosphere of Group B, it has completely failed that IMO. Too much dramatization and lack for the Sport. This also hurts to watch as an Audio fan. Why is Audi portrayed as some blank villain? The Audi drivers and the Team weren't all about "we deserve to win because we have QUATTRO" aspect. Doesn't do justice to what each teams with their drivers has to accomplish. But I guess it makes sense from the Italian perspective but it would've been better to just portray both teams equally in the fight for the championship and to focus more on the racing itself and show the harshness, engineering and teamwork of driving Group B which actually made the sport what it is. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Stephen S It's obvious the director and film team never watched group B ralling. Driving and in car scenes are truly terrible. This was an ultra fast era of falling driven by highly skilled professionals, the sound and speed of the cars was amazing and packed with excitement. The crowds in Europe were massive and out of control. This movie is boring and a total waste of money. It fails in every aspect of what I was hoping for. I suggest young people to watch utube the amazing performance of the drivers, navigators, and teams from this era. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Jenaro V Sorprendente como hicieron una película sobre Rally sin dinamismo, sin emoción, sin tensión, sin diversión. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/24 Full Review Redbil A There is a Jeremy Clarkson documentary piece which is available on YouTube, which will add the details and context that is missing from the film. If you could splice both films together you get a superior movie. Quite watchable though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
