Blu B This is a stupid idea for a movie but still how the heck do you make a stupid but awesome fun idea like this and make it SO BORING. Everything about this is just beyond boring. Even when the ship comes up with amazing effects it's still somehow boring because they shoot it in unneeded slow motion and drag a 1 minute scene out for three and a half minutes. The climax of the Russians trying to steal the ship which is insane because the they annouced to the whole world they were raising it so how did they think they were getting away with this is just a whole lot of nothing and is just pathetic. The acting really isn't acting it's just explaining plot for 90% of the dialouge and runtime. The underwaer scenes are super boring as well ebcause it's so dark half the time you can't see or when you can it's just them staring blankly explaining plot. Alec Guiness is the best thing in this, too bad he's only in it for 5 minutes. The music isn't good either and is so boring and lifeless to listen too and makes things worse rather than enhances the mood which is crazy given who made it. The acting, pacing, and cinematography are just horrifcally bad because again it's so lifeless, boring, and nothing but CONSTANT plot expose. The crazy part is the special effects are actually really good and none of the camerawork or technical aspects are like Plan 9 or The Room type broken here it's actually alright. The editing is ok enough though but again it's such a stupid idea to to make this into a poltical thriller. And how in the world you make Jason Robards boring is beyond me. The level of boring in this is like your watching a old nature documentary. Dear Lord Skip This. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Interstellar K This is one of my favourite films of all time. It's up there with 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner & Interstellar. I really recommend it to anyone willing to watch a spectacular film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review Chris M When I first saw the poster I thought it was going to be a fun treasure hunting movie. But nope, it's a stupid Cold War thriller that goes from dumb to idiotically dumb quickly. Ignoring the fact the Titanic didn't sink in one piece, because it was a common misconception at the time. Didn't confirm it wasn't in one piece until she was found in real life in 1985, five years after this was made. Also, ignoring Byzantium doesn't exist. They never really explained how it can end the threat of nuclear war, other than it can. But let's point out how this movie fucks over history, shall we? The only known radioactive material in 1912 was uranium. The only use of uranium at the time was to plate glass. So even if they knew Byzantium was radioactive, Russia wouldn't be chasing a boat and murdering civilians over something that only did mundane things. Also they way the movie the act like it was the USSR in Russia in 1912 when the Revolution didn't even start until 1917. Plus in this two hour movie the bulk of the first two act are just people in sub looking for the Titanic. This is so boring and dumb. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/23 Full Review michael w I don't care what so-called "critics" say, because they always seem to love films that I hate, and hate films that I love. This film (and the novel it is based on) came out years before the actual Titanic was found. Watching it now, I like to imagine this film taking place in an alternate universe in which the great ship is found intact. I actually love this film and highly recommend it!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow! I actually enjoyed it! so sue me Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/21/21 Full Review gene r I saw this movie 30 or so years ago, before I was familiar with Clive Cussler and well before advanced CGU effects. Even then, the acting seemed lackluster, but I was still impressed with the story and the effects. Seen from a 2021 perspective, it may not hold up well, but I'll still give it a 60%, for the old days. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Bruce McCabe Boston Globe The movie is a misconceived, anticlimactic, wooden, phlegmatically paced and waterlogged travelogue that devotes so much time to its nautical machinery that there's none left over for even an approximation of interaction among the actors. Apr 28, 2018 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Raise the Titanic is almost a good movie. It has some wonderful moments, but they're bogged down in two moronic subplots.
