I really enjoyed it until the last few minutes. The characters were interesting, the dynamic between the brothers was believable, and the plot was intimate and engaging. If only the female characters didn’t fall into tropes, I would have liked it more.

An interesting commentary on the effects of grief, as well as how it influences our perception of the deceased. With a strong sense of visual style and excellent performances from its lead actors, it has some genuinely great elements to offer audiences.

McGregor’s and Hawke’s performances are raw, walking different lines between grief, hurt, and indifference. But their interactions often feel empty. A flat script does little to buoy them.

It’s a good movie, slow but with a great script and a depth of acting. It isn’t a comedy although there are moments of humour, but it explores trauma and the effects of poor parenting and endeavours to provide an element of healing for both the main characters, with the introduction of strong, kind women to restore some level of honestly and compassion

Weird, broken characters acting strangely to bizarre situations and yet,,,not in the least is the film compelling or entertaining. The entire movie, I found myself going "Huh?!? Weird!" Go find a backed-up toilet to unclog instead. Compared to this movie, it'll stink less and not be nearly as shitty.

Uma excelente comédia dramática, quase uma poesia, se não fosse por declarar toda dor que o abandono parental pode causar, o ponto alto do filme são os coadjuvantes que vão sendo agregados no decorrer dos acontecimentos, sempre trazendo novas informações sobre o morto, de forma divertida e curiosa, adorável... "É para ter estabilidade com um emprego empolgante. O risco faz você se sentir vivo. Às vezes, até ser meio descuidado pode ser bom." fico feliz de estar no caminho certo...

There is a gorgeous tale within the film about brotherhood, the love between them in the face of adversity, the loyalty between the two and the frictions as each tries to reconcile themselves to their father in their own ways. Otherwise it’s a dull story of a bad father who the writing goes very easy on. Luckily, there’s an assortment of supporting characters who help Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor work through their baggage, often with a patience and care that defies explanation.
