Harris Dang easternKicks.com Re:Born is a more than sufficient entry to the action genre with Tak Sakaguchi and Yuji Shimomura doing what they do best: kicking ass and taking names, hundreds upon hundreds of them, with style. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 31, 2018 Full Review J.R. Southall Starburst Altogether anybody who enjoys a bit of screen martial arts won't be disappointed by a film that's probably destined to become something of a minor classic of the genre. Calvin O Sadly, Re:Born missed its potential within the first 30 minutes. I rarely, RARELY hold plot implausibilities against a film, as I generally believe all the assumptions the Director/Writer wishes us too, without asking too many questions, but this time I simply couldn't look the other way. I mean, come on...our protagonist is in the woods surrounded by 100's of gun-toting mercenaries who are ALL out to kill him. Yet, they are not supposed to use said guns to kill him...except when they're firing on him and missing him. It just doesn't make sense. I can buy in to him being so good that he can dodge the bullets, but why attempt shooting him until within point blank range, and then NOT using the gun to kill him. Like...this just doesn't make sense in any world. Not even the one where we allow all shortcomings and questions to go unanswered. It just felt strange. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/25 Full Review Audience Member this was fantastic; i saw other reviewers reference Ninja Assassin & The Raid for this film, which are both favorites of mine, & they were spot on. i loved everything about this movie. if you're fans of the same type of genre, then you'll love this one too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Good film showcasing close range combat with the use various weapons. Choregraphy of the fight scenes was clean, sharp, and on-point.
