Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle 1980 isn't a placeholder by any means, but it suffers by its middle placement, lacking the newness of the first film or the cumulative satisfactions of the last. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 26, 2010 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News Stands as a wrenching tale of power abused and lives discarded. It is powerful stuff. Rated: B Mar 19, 2010 Full Review Sam Adams Philadelphia City Paper Each film is enriched by collective detail, but it would have been richer had they played off each other rather than extending the argument. Rated: B+ Mar 11, 2010 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Made with considerable skill by Marsh, Red Riding: 1980 is the most simplistic in the trilogy narratively speaking, yet it still demands our attention throughout because of a lingering investment from the first film. Rated: 3/4 Aug 22, 2023 Full Review Taylor Baker Drink in the Movies Episode 30: Capernaum / The Red Riding Trilogy / High Flying Bird Rated: 86/100 Sep 9, 2021 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row Has an interesting and compelling atmosphere, and a stronger sense of human relationships than its counterparts, but it's also much more cold and impenetrable. nilufer e This one was the most disconnected one I think. It was all about the new detective and his affair and duty etc. I felt I didn't even had to watch this one. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A well written sequel with a somewhat satisfying conclusion that unfortunately got a bit slow around midway, causing me to lose focus at times. In all fairness I'd like to give this another try, in a different mood, as I was told this was the best of the trilogy, yet definitely thought 1974 the better myself. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Love it. Doesn't get any better Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Part Two The Yorkshire Ripper & The Cover Ups... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This was the best one of the series. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A solid followup to the first movie with Hunter and Harris leading the way. The path was a little easier to follow in this movie as the hints were a little more noticeable. Still a lot of good plot development going on that foreshadows the eventual ending.
