Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the President of the United States (Uma Thurman), and Britain's Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) have a lot in common: Stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity... and a total disdain for each other. Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn't really been an issue, until a disastrous--and very public--altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time. The film leaves you with an absolute feeling of well-being. I can watch it again and again. It is a film about love and even though the film is different in many ways than the equally great book, the film has become independent and lives above all from the great chemistry of the two main actors. I want to see more of it. Nevertheless, Nicholas Galitzine in particular is perhaps a little underwhelmed by always playing the handsome prince. Many more challenges await them. He is an incredibly good, expressive actor, which he recently demonstrated in "Mary and George".

So sweet and fun and earnest. Hits expected romcom beats, but somehow is fresh and charming. I'm not a romcom girlie, since the tropes are typically stale and boring, but this is such an exception. I've enthusiastically rewatched this three times.

Imagine the Hallmark Channel making soft-core porn and you pretty much have it: yearning, orgasmic faces, but no crotch shots. The acting varies in believability as does the script, but the leads are beautiful, especially when dancing among nude statuary.
