Detective Jake Riley is on the trail of serial killer Edward "The Torch" Garrotte, who murders mothers and sets them ablaze after they're dead. Nearing retirement, Riley is removed from the case but is soon contacted by a government agency that has created a clone of Garrotte using a secret technology. The replicant (also Van Damme) teams with Riley to help track down the killer, but despite the novel approach, Garrotte will be hard to stop.

The action sequences are well staged and credit where credit is due: The 40-year-old martial artist still has the physical goods, executing 180 splits and gymnastic stunts with the grace and apparent ease of someone much younger.

Jean-Claude Van Damme sempre teve uma relação curiosa com o "duplo" em sua filmografia. Depois do jogo de espelhos em *Duplo Impacto* e da identidade fragmentada em *Risco Máximo*, ele retorna aqui interpretando dois lados de uma mesma existência: o assassino Garrott e o seu clone – o Replicante. A proposta é, ao mesmo tempo, instigante e estranha: usar uma cópia genética para caçar o original, como se a maldade pudesse ser rastreada pelo DNA. Essa premissa quase filosófica abre espaço para um thriller de **ação e ficção científica**, mas o filme oscila entre boas ideias e uma execução irregular. A narrativa parte de um conceito ousado: Jake, um policial consumido pelo ódio ao serial killer Garrott, passa a conduzir o Replicante como um "cão farejador humano". O que poderia ser apenas uma caçada se transforma em algo mais íntimo quando a criatura começa a demonstrar emoções, empatia e uma inocência que contrasta brutalmente com seu original **⭐ Nota: 5

Filme mais ou menos, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são mais ou menos, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

An unusual strong performance for Van Damm, I would say if the premise doesn't at least interest you, watch it for his performance alone. Recommended for action fans

Synopsis
