andy f You can get some absolutely first rate very low budget films, unfortunately this isn't one of them. A fictional documentary about someone completing an unfinished horror film, this movie is neither a successful character drama or thriller or horror movie, but it does try to be a little different. The acting is just passable and despite the odd effective moment as the film progresses, what it builds towards is very predictable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Shocking mocumentary following an aspiring film-maker who sets about finishing an abandoned horror film, that soon become an obsession. This low budget cinema verite shocker ended up being quite a pleasant surprise. The production values, direction and performances are all top-notch, and if you had switched it on half way through, you may have actually thought you were watching a real documentary. The story is quite entertaining as it follows the lead character's descent into madness, but the climax was a bit abrupt and a little formulaic and this reviewer had a sneaking suspicion what was going to happen way before it actually did. But, all in all this is a nice little movie, and if you like this style of film making, then you will enjoy watching it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A very intriguing premise, well handled never quite ascends to the heights its aiming for in this pseudo-documentary. The "video nasty" stuff is badly dated and the hapless female victim bit is badly out of date (and also hard to stomach these days) The descent of the lead character into insanity is reasonably well handled but needed to be a bit more gradual rather than so sudden and the original movie he was restoring needed to be better to justify his obsession. In places the acting is wildly inconsistent, some of the cast are very good, one or two are poor and highly unconvincing Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting fake doc looks an Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member An ambitious young filmmaker discovers the reels of an unfinished British 'video nasty' while working as a runner at a production company. He soon becomes obsessed with this seemingly cursed picture and elects to finish the film himself. The faux-documentary style feels authentic here thanks to a well written script and convincing work from the cast. A little too predictable to provoke any real shocks, it's nevertheless engaging throughout and an impressive calling card for director Ozgur Uyanik.
