Deke P Still a classic concept. Tho not as good as the original, still interesting. & VINCENT PRICE in it. Giving it at least 3.5 RT stars. Saw it on the tv set 10.13.23. Note to sef, pay close attention to 1st haf. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review Steve D It looks ridiculous but the story is fine. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Chris M This is what happens when you rush a sequel, especially with a smaller budget. I don't know for certain, but with the black and white film and bigger fly head, I'm guessing. But there is a bright side to the slightly and goofier head. There were more animatronics in the head, more movement. In a lot of ways it's a step down but there is still plenty to like about it. As rushed sequels go, it could have been worse. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Liam D A cheaper and cheesier sequel to the original but genre legend Vincent Price (Laura, Dragonwyck) once again gives a good performance Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/16/22 Full Review Audience Member An underrated film that deserves more love than it's gotten. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Cheaply made sequel is still entertaining, but nowhere as good as the original horror classic (although, SPOILER ALERT, you do get a half man/half guinea pig at one point). The story picks up years later with the son of the original film's scientist attempting to recreate his father's teleportation experiments, which inadvertently turned him into a half-man/half-fly. Vincent Price is the only returning actor from the original film. Also highlighting the films cheap nature is that it was shot in black & white instead of in vivid color. The original film had more intrigue and mystery around what happened to the scientist who locked himself away from his family and who was keeping his face hidden following his experiments, but that mystery was already revealed by the time this sequel came around, so instead we have a dull story about corporate espionage and business rivals trying to steal the technology. Still, "Return of the Fly" is an unpretentious campy good time, especially when a man and a guinea pig are teleported together, as well as, once again, a man and a house fly.
