Somehow the heartwarming growth of the ryokan's ragtag and rambunctious residents and employees, across conversations, chase sequences, and even lyrical romance, means that River never once feels tedious. Go to Full Review

Concorde 1 Aug 15 A well-thought and aesthetically pleasing movie that allows for a fun, original and captivating experience. I really enjoyed all the details that led to an immersive discovery of many elements of the Japanese culture. See more Alejandro B @Velero Jul 28 This humble film manages to deliver with its curious/original plot and awkardly lovable characters even if the concept is not taken very far. It is charming, lighthearted and a bit nonsensical, and so it is well worth a watch as a comedy. See more John C Apr 21 Didn't expect to get quite so sent to this part of Japan! Everything about this film was delightful! The story, the cast, the effortless direction!! A real treat! See more Kara K @KaraK 09/18/2024 A simple and seem like a small budget passion project with a genuine story line really captivating. See more Chris O 09/30/2023 While stuck in a Loop that incorporates the passing seasons, the staff of a hotel try to both keep their guests happy and informed while also attempting to understand and extricate themselves from the situation. Unlike other loop themed tales, everyone recalls everything from previous iterations. This allows them to perform a variety of experiments to gain information that could lead to an exit. At same time all the usual human responses and interactions proceed apace. With an overlay of Japanese mannerisms, the story is completely beguiling. See more Read all reviews
