Manjusha Radhakrishnan Gulf News (UAE) This superbly crafted thriller-drama will knock you out with its rawness and emotional heft. Here’s the beauty of this film -- it’s unflinchingly real. Rated: 4/5 Jun 20, 2025 Full Review S. R. Praveen The Hindu Even though the narrative unfurls through these short, seemingly disconnected episodes, the taut screenplay ensures that the film remains engaging throughout. arvind s Shahi Kabir's introspection into the police world is not over. He has been involved in cop movies since his first as a writer - Joseph. He followed it up with Nayattu and his directorial debut, Ila Veezha Poonchira. He turned scribe again for Officer on Duty, and now he returns with his sophomore effort as a director in Ronth. Starring Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew in the lead as two police officers on night patrol. The movie captures the various incidents that patrol officers come across and how they juggle their professional & personal lives. Both the leads are currently in the best phase of their careers. For Dileesh, he has been strengthening his profile with stellar character roles. As Yohannan, Dileesh brings forward a character, who is committed to his job and balances a tricky personal life at the same time. He is cunning and knows how to tackle matters at work. Whereas Roshan's Dinnath is a novice of sorts. He is naive but short-tempered, is gullible, and struggles with a trauma from his past. The way these two actors showcase different facets of a police officer's life is just brilliant. The struggle of being a police officer is one of the key plot points of Shahi Kabir films, and this one aces it as well. Lakshmi Menon - Vlogger gives a memorable performance in her debut role, Jitin Puthanchery, Krishna Kurup & Arun co-star. Ronth is a slow burn at its best. Do not expect a fast paced police drama. It takes its time, slowly easing into the night, similar to how the cops on duty settle into it, handling various issues across their jurisdiction. But when things pick up pace, they escalate pretty quickly. Do not miss this gem of a movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/18/25 Full Review Read all reviews
