Audience Member MGM's first musical in CinemaScope was a remake of their 1936 box-office hit which starred Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy; this time around, the plot followed the Broadway stage hit of 1924, and featured authentic Canadian location photography and a semi-lavish production number ("Totem Tom Tom") directed by Busby Berkeley. Despite these trimmings - plus some lovely singing by Blyth, Keel and Lamas - the film failed to excite. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member THIRD VERSION OF THIS Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie itself is only so-so, but the lyrics were awfully campy and I don't know how they could sing them with straight faces. There is also the usual '50s misrepresentation of native american cultures. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
