This movie is EXCELLENT. Placing this movie in 1987, when it was, allows for a fuller appreciation. I watched this in the theater back then. It was/is not only accessible to younger viewers, it is very entertaining with good moral underpinnings.

Hilariously bad. Seeing Joaquin Phoenix this young in a starring role is interesting but good God, the amount of 80s cliche in here is just nauseating and consistently humorous.

Cute, enjoyable movie reminiscent of The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming from the 60s and other kids get together to save the day 80s movies such as Goonies, E.T., and Explorers (which featured River Phoenix). Pure, wholesome entertainment with a great message of Glasnost.
