Anil Sinanan Time Out Kumar is in serious mode and brings a certain dignity to his one-dimensional character. Frustratingly, an unconvincing subplot is concocted in order to justify Cynthia's cheating. Rated: 2/5 Oct 21, 2017 Full Review Anupama Chopra Hindustan Times Director Tinu Suresh Desai's take on this landmark crime is flat and uninspired. Rated: 2/5 Jan 4, 2017 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian Screaming excess threatens to stifle the emotion and tragedy; Kumar has only to hit the same note of dogged honour and wait for the storm to pass. As an exercise in medium-high style, however, it retains the attention. Rated: 3/5 Aug 15, 2016 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV The reenactment of the Nanavati murder case sees Akshay draw a convincing, if somewhat predictably airbrushed, portrait of a naval officer who killed a man with whom his wife was having an affair. Jul 24, 2020 Full Review Renuka Vyavahare The Times of India Tinu Suresh Desai infuses ample melodrama and ups the intrigue. Ileana D'Cruz is perfectly cast and does complete justice to her role. Arjan Bajwa is decent as well. Rated: 4/5 Mar 28, 2018 Full Review Rachit Gupta Filmfare Rustom is not a 100 per cent authentic, it's not the most intelligible film either, but within the confines of a commercial movie, it does offer a compelling argument. Audience Member He's been doing many roles that require uniforms and he usually does well in them. But didn't find anything too fresh in this one. Still a decent watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review arun s Enjoyed this film a lot.. Akshay Kumar rocked as Rustom Pavri. It is not a true interpretation I understand but as a film it was both a enjoyable and shocking entertainer . Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed the movie, loved the acting, the 50's setting and the main plot basis, it did go overboard on some plot premises but that's to be expected of filmmakers. On further research I found it to be a fictionalized account of real events!!! In fact, the parts I had found interesting and entertaining were based on real events, the parts I found to be loose ends of the story and going overboard were made up by the filmmakers. Just shows when the real story is sensational by itself they didn't have to add further masala to it. Trivia: This is the case due to which Jury System was abolished in India. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Last Night I watched this with my wife and mum and it was the first Bollywood flick i had seen in awhile. The story revolved around a decorated naval officer that comes back home only to find that his wife is cheating on him with a friend and he loses it and kills the guy and then hands himself into the cops and then the story is about the court case on what happens to him. For me it was kinda boring cause I fell asleep when the court case started and was in and out of consciousness I saw that the story would progress and he would not get any assistance and he represents himself. I found it to be boring and the songs could have been better. This is available on Netflix to see but i feel their are much better choices. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A cliched courtroom drama that fails to convince whether it wants to be a crime thriller or a self induced patriotic themed drama. Ultimately it turns out to be both but in a preposterous fashion. The court room scenes are really dull with the arguments being mostly silly as well as old school. Akshay kumar is consistent till the very end and the rest of the cast are complete waste of time. Most of the set decoration is pretty decent and valid except for few things which I am pretty sure were not invented till 1990s . Overall What could have been a exceptional thriller goes pretty wasted. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A Good Movie that could have been great if stuck to the true story and show both sides instead of making one side a Hero and the other a villian. Excellent performance by Akshay Kumar Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
