Kathy Fennessy Video Librarian Magazine Native Vermont filmmaker Nora Jacobson pays tribute to Vermont poet and writing instructor Ruth Stone (1915-2011) in a tender, clear-eyed documentary that examines her enduring legacy as much as her eventful life. Rated: 3.5/5 May 30, 2023 Full Review Q.V. Hough Vague Visages “‘Ruth Stone’s Vast Library of the Female Mind’ is an inspiring excavation of the subject’s subconscious; a trip that shouldn’t be avoided by off-the-grid creatives.” Jul 28, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Cynthia G Magical in the sense that the movie seemed to capture the spirit and fire of Ruth Stone as well as describe so poignantly her writing and life. It made me sad that I never met her as she is the kind of person that adds positively to one's life experience. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/07/23 Full Review Hume V Nora Jacobson has created a rich, dense, deeply moving portrait in film of the poet Ruth Stone. Ruth Stone for half a century presided over a gloriously ramshackle Vermont farmhouse stuffed with books and declining furniture, and with a continuous flow of occupants; friends and poets, admiring and grateful students, and her own doting daughters, granddaughters and ever-expanding extended family. Writing came to Ruth Stone as naturally and imperatively as breathing; she transformed the everyday, and her love and her grief into exquisite poetry. This is an unusual and exceptional film.
