Pauline Adamek FILMINK (Australia) … can’t decide if it’s a cheesy teen horror movie or a B-movie throwback. Rated: 5/20 Sep 2, 2024 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Far from a ‘Dexter: The Teenage Years’ that the synopsis might suggest, Saint Clare is a richly drawn noir with dark roots and ideas. Rated: 4/5 Aug 29, 2024 Full Review Joel Harley Starburst Unfortunately, these goofier elements clash with the film’s heavy-handed religious imagery and its attempts at seriousness. Rated: 2/5 Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film It’s a busy story but it flows smoothly in the hands of director Mitzi Peirone, who uses the visual language of nostalgic coming-of-age movies to tell the main part of the tale, intermittently veering off into much more experimental techniques. Rated: 4/5 Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Rebecca Johnson Film Focus Online With good performances and a strong visual style, 'Saint Clare' is often an engaging watch, but by tackling too many ideas at once, it fails to bring home a strong message. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Anton Bitel SciFiNow Mitzi Peirone’s serial-killing psychodrama pits a damaged Catholic schoolgirl against small-town male toxicity Aug 25, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Don R I may be biased as this film is based on my novel, CLARE AT SIXTEEN. Still, Mitzi Peirone's adaptation, SAINT CLARE, is a visually striking ethereal noir film that follows Clare Marie Bleecker, played by Bella Thorne, as she secretly eliminates the criminal underbelly of her town, Pickman Flats. Thorne’s nuanced performance blends innocence with ferocity, while Peirone’s direction weaves fantasy with gritty mystery, creating an immersive and atmospheric tale. Including supernatural elements, like Mailman Bob, played by Frank Whaley, my favorite part of the film, the seemingly ghostly postman adds depth and levity to Clare’s dark journey. With its mix of mystery, fantasy, and thriller elements, SAINT CLARE is a testament to Thorne’s growth as an actress and Peirone’s talent as a filmmaker, delivering a hauntingly memorable experience.
