Alison Willmore New York Magazine/Vulture Disaster seems inevitable, but what makes Saint Maud so nail-bitingly tense is that it's impossible to guess the form in which it'll come... Aug 11, 2021 Full Review Aja Romano Vox St. Maud marks a stunning feature film debut for writer-director Rose Glass. Understated yet opulent, measured, and intensely creepy, it's a tour de force in balancing uncomfortable levels of tension and suspense with deep pathos. May 20, 2021 Full Review Adam Nayman The Ringer Glass makes a number of savvy directorial choices throughout Saint Maud, and the sharpest is to limit what we see, hear, and know to her heroine's point of view. Ivan F Horror this is not, but rather enjoyable psychological thriller. With some minor gruesome moments to classify it as a horror movie. Horror buffs will be dissatisfied. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/25 Full Review W C S The buildup was decent and I enjoyed the atmosphere, but overall feel the resolution was lacking. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/25 Full Review Audience Member Saint Maud is painfully slow and almost unwatchable. The first hour drags on with a dull and repetitive buildup that feels more like a chore than a story. Instead of building tension, it sinks into monotony, making it hard to stay engaged. When the possession finally begins, it comes off as flat and uninspired, failing to redeem the long and boring setup. What could have been an unsettling psychological horror is completely ruined by its tedious pacing and lifeless execution. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/25 Full Review John D I’ve probably never wrote a Rotten Tomatoes review, but after seeing it rated so highly on Google Tv I watched it and I’m highly disappointed. I’m a huge horror buff and this movie was a snooze fest. Beyond boring and almost an hour into the movie I couldn’t understand how it was Horror at all. Don’t waste your time on this movie and forget the high reviews. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/25 Full Review Ian S Good performances from Clark and Ehle with an unsettling sound design and visually good. Covered familiar ground re mental illness and religion. A good movie but not compelling enough to be a great one. For a debut feature, pretty impressive. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review Mark B Well acted and written . It is a slow burn with the main character moving towards faith or madness. It was a bit slow and moody for my tastes but it is a good movie and one which I can see many giving it 4 stars Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
