Sally (Alice Faye) and her best friends, Irene and Mary, work together as manicurists in a New York City barbershop. Their dream is to be a successful singing trio, but it always seems that whenever they're on the verge of a big break, things fall apart at the last minute. Their luck changes, though, when Mary inherits an old ferry ship. Together, the three work to turn the worn-down ship into in a supper club, where they can sing and dance the night away.
