Phil Hoad Guardian It hovers between ill-disciplined and authentic. But the performances tip it in favour of the latter: not just Kebbell’s, but also LaBeouf’s brisk grittiness. Rated: 3/5 Jul 8, 2025 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Franklin & Marchetta have made a respectable first feature that is well-realized in every aspect -- save the earnest but mediocre basic material it ultimately fails to elevate. May 2, 2025 Full Review Monica Castillo RogerEbert.com “Salvable” struggles to find its footing as both a family and crime drama, but it does one better than the other. Rated: 2/4 May 2, 2025 Full Review Whang Yee Ling The Straits Times (Singapore) The raw film-making and strong acting punch above the generic trappings of a tragic tale about second chances. Rated: 3/5 Jul 25, 2025 Full Review Zach Youngs InSession Film Salvable has a lot of great story beats even if the overall plot is pretty predictable. Rated: B Jul 14, 2025 Full Review Andrew Murray The Upcoming Although it lacks the sharp social commentary of similar genre pieces, the melancholic atmosphere and exquisite performances make Salvable worth watching. Mario E This movie is nothing less then excellent and I highly recommend. Toby Kebbell is a great actor and this movie allows him to show case his talents. Watch the movie… it will not disappoint! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/25 Full Review Domenico S After watching i wondered "why has this film gotten 2/3 stars in its reviews. well shot, well acted, dialogue well written and carried out by some actors who occasionally fall wide of the mark. a few hours after viewing the film i processed the message. apparently, the viewers of this film who will for the most part be white working class members of english, irish or american society should process this message; Dont continue to fight when life's not going well, your life will be ruined. dont work on your fitness when lifes not going great, your life will be ruined. don't go and work with the elderly when your natural demeanor is one of being great with people, there's no point in offering help to the people who laid the foundations of our life or vulnerable people, leave them to rot, your life will be ruined if you try this. don't hold the government or policing agencies accountable for their actions in life, your life will be ruined and don't maintain relationships with people who've had your back, your life will be ruined. All in all a completely depressing, counter intuitive message to what this group of people currently needs globally. what sort of actual message is that to send. fight for your life and attempt to assist people who need assistance and try to mend family relations and your life will be destroyed? i almost understand why this talented group of actors, writers, directors and camera workers get no work at the minute. if thats the sort of message you want to send to people, i understand why people are disenfranchied with the film industry and the creative industry as a whole and are condemned to 30 second tik tok videos which are predominantly adverts for plastic or fish hooks attempting to entrap people into a life of crime for being alienated with what society currently holds for us. pros; well acted, camera work great, dialogue great, edited well. impressed with a bunch of actors who seemed to have all had skill but made some questionable decisions with roles over the years cons; message absolutely deploreable. dont fight for you life? dont attempt to repair family relations? don't work on your fitness when your mental healths not great? don't stand up to harassment? don't work with vulnerable people at a time where everyones more concerned with pieces of paper and plastic? i feel disgusted at giving it any plus points. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/16/25 Full Review Lacie L I went into this not knowing what to expect and ended up watching it again. And again. There’s something so real and familiar about Salvable like these characters actually exist just down the road. It hits hard if you’ve grown up around people like this. It’s raw, grounded, and full of quiet emotion that sneaks up on you. Toby (plays Sal) absolutely blew me away. Always knew he was solid, but this is the first time I’ve seen him get the space to really show what he can do. Every scene he’s in is just honest and heavy without ever feeling forced. Shia’s Irish accent is… well, it comes and goes, but it weirdly works, I actually loved how understated he played it. The story itself isn’t flashy or complicated, but that’s the beauty of it. It’s simple in structure but emotionally layered, and it leaves a lot of space for you to sit with things. The music is subtle but powerful and hits exactly when it needs to. So many little moments that made me pause and reflect. My only complaint is I wish the ending gave just a little more. Like a tiny clue or hint about what happens to Sal. Still, I get why it ends where it does. It lingers. This isn’t going to be for everyone, but it was 100% my kind of film. Quiet, gritty, emotional. One of the most self-assured debuts I’ve seen in ages. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review Jonas S For young folks still getting seasoned to movies like this I could see it leaving a lasting impression, but for those of us who've seen a number of films in a similar vein Salvable offers nothing new except a fatter Shia Lebouf who is, surprisingly, a terrific irish gangster. Everyone else is fine too, but it's just too unoriginal and prediactable to be a winner. If you've been watching a lot of movies for the past 20 years you can definitely skip this one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review razvan p good dialog good acting but HELL the script is delusional.. such a desperate unrealistic worldview. theres no satisfaction in watching a broken world framework .. it sins against the souls of the watcher Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/25 Full Review Jimmy The Hand C The ending was sad but I enjoyed the film.
