Dennis Harvey Variety Franklin & Marchetta have made a respectable first feature that is well-realized in every aspect -- save the earnest but mediocre basic material it ultimately fails to elevate. May 2, 2025 Full Review Monica Castillo RogerEbert.com “Salvable” struggles to find its footing as both a family and crime drama, but it does one better than the other. Rated: 2/4 May 2, 2025 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter It’s Kebbell who gives Salvable heart and soul. Never succumbing to the sort of histrionics to which a lesser actor might have resorted, he makes us care deeply about his troubled character. Apr 29, 2025 Full Review Brian Farvour The Playlist ...the dedication on behalf of everyone who makes up this cast helps what’s already tremendously unoriginal to, at minimum, warrant a watch. Rated: C+ May 5, 2025 Full Review Joel Copling Spectrum Culture Salvable is frustrating because it betrays this character by forcing him into a glum melodrama. May 5, 2025 Full Review Rebecca Johnson Film Focus Online Competently acted with commendable filmmaking on display, Salvable is a gritty crime drama that doesn’t pack the punch it tries to due to a weak storyline. Thoraya D Not what I was expecting, but definitely worth watching! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Project A The acting and cinematography is grim but very sensational. It just lacks story satisfaction. The movie has The Wrestler style of storyline. I get it that cinema depicts harsh reality, but even in that reality there is always a point where the viewer has to be happy at the end. This movie lacked that happy ending. I'd like to imagine a different ending where he refuses to do the heist, goes to the fight, win or lose, he'd still manage to salvage his relationship with his daughter. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Audience Member Don't waste your time watching this. I am warning you now Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review Prince of Crows . What an incredible film. The script is masterfully written - so much depth lies behind this heartbreaking story of a broken man who once had the world at his feet. No matter what the world throws at him though, he keeps moving forward, when most of us would have given up long before. But does it lead him to clearer waters? Can he outrun his past, or does it slowly consume him? The acting is sublime, so nuanced and deeply connected. This is a hard journey, with hard people and hard choices… so easily can this feel cold but the cast really draw you in and keep you there with them, warming you with such relatable pain and joy. Toby Kebbel and Shia Labeouf really shine. The cinematography is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Really pleasing to the eye and breathtaking. The fight scenes are brutal, gritty and so believable, foregoing the Hollywood glow up we so often see but still being really exciting and raw. Extremely impressive, especially when Sal has to fight Leo. The performances from both of them here was so real I felt like I was there and in danger. Bjorn Franklin and Johnny Marchetta have created a real piece of art here. Something full of soul, eschewing glamour and over dramatisation for a film that tells a story of Fatherhood, Loss, Pain, Struggle and the desire to change. But sometimes life isn’t kind. So pleased I watched this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Sarah S I did not expect to be gutted by a film about an ex-boxer. The premise itself sounds familiar, but the way it’s told hits different. It’s quiet, raw and real. Kebbell is unreal in this, the whole cast are, total royal flush of performance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Evan E I found it to be a great movie. Very strong acting.. would highly recommend Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Read all reviews
