Guy Lodge Variety "Saudi Runaway" is a product of extraordinary trust on the part of both filmmaker and subject - not that such a distinction feels entirely right, given how much filmmaking the latter performs on her own. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 27, 2020 Full Review Sheri Linden Hollywood Reporter [A] lean documentary that offers an insightful, first-person look at a culture that, as Muna puts it in her astute voiceover narration, is caught between tradition and modernity. Jan 27, 2020 Full Review Joseph Fahim Middle East Eye Meures gives no information regarding the cultural, social or economic background of her protagonist, who gradually transpires into no more than a wannabe Instagram star striving for the western dream. Jul 9, 2021 Full Review Redmond Bacon Cultured Vultures While dragging a little in the middle, it is a fascinating portrayal of survival, and hopefully a precursor of a female-led revolution against all places still stuck in the stone age when it comes to women's rights. Rated: 7/10 Feb 26, 2020 Full Review Janet Lee Film Inquiry Rooted in humility, Saudi Runaway intelligently navigates the meaning of choice, independence, risk, and fear in the life of a Saudi Arabian woman.
