What to Know

Critics Consensus

It won't earn the franchise many new fans, but Saw VI is a surprising step up for what has become an intricately grisly annual tradition.

Jordan Crucchiola New York Magazine/Vulture A very entertaining thing happens in the sixth movie: Saw tunes into society at large and focuses its punishment on predatory lenders and amoral insurance companies. Oct 27, 2017 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online I'd be lying if I didn't admit to jumping in my seat a few times. Unfortunately the plot was just a bit messy. There’s nothing different or unique about this entry in the franchise. Rated: 1/4 Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Shaun Munro Flickering Myth It admittedly doesn't all work... but on the balance of things Saw VI is the most tonally adept and well thought-out entry since the third. Rated: 3/5 May 20, 2021 Full Review Matthew Rozsa matthewrozsa.com Health insurance companies take human life... They are the real serial killers of our time. Jigsaw and his proteges at least have the excuse of being fictional. Rated: 4/4 Oct 9, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Josh A This feels like a proper evolution of Saw V's plot and story, as well as the series in general, and I love it. It's like a way better version of Saw V, and Saw V has more of a story purpose in hindsight. While the two plotlines are still disconnected, they both feel relevant to the story of Saw and well developed. Firstly, the plotline regarding William Easton. It's great and the traps have irony to them, two in particular being amazing critiques of William and health insurance. We'll talk about the Gallows, as the other will be mentioned later. It's attacking his formula, as according to his formula Addy should die. But when he's faced with seeing the families of both people on the Gallows, it all changes. Also, the Hoffman plotline was great, as it's tense because you know any moment he could be discovered. The scene where the tape for the Pendulum Trap is slowly decoded, revealing Hoffman's voice, Hoffman immediately killing everyone and running, is amazing and tense. It's just a well crafted movie. My favourite trap in this movie was the Shotgun Carousel. It's not as brutal as some of my favourite traps, but it is amazing at being tense and the climax of William's growth. It's also quite tragic as you see six people begging for their lives, and it is a long scene. It's also great how it feels like a critique of William's 1/3 acceptance policy, where only 2 out of 6 can live. It's tense. In fact, so far, this movie has the best traps in the series. Overall, amazing movie and the beginning of the end for the story, even if it's the sixth out of ten. Next up, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter! Apparently this one isn't good, but I'll try to keep an open mind. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Nate L American hero Mark Hoffman has had enough with the continuous failings of the American Healthcare system and carries out the same heartless practices they have been dishing out the people for decades. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Carly G This is probably my least favorite Saw film of the franchise. The acting is really rough from some characters--the actress that plays Jill got away with her bad acting in previous installments because her parts were brief, but in this one it was hard to watch her make the same "I'm hot but also I'm stressed out" face while being given a lead role. Some of the dialogue, especially in the beginning, is poorly written and very cliché. The twist at the ending is fine, but it's the least impressive one of the series thus far. If you're a fan of the Saw franchise, the movie delivers with a good premise, some good dialogue about the health care industry, more glimpse into the previous films, and new traps/games that we all come to expect from the movies. Some of the traps felt like they really piggy-backed off of previous traps, but some of them were clever. Overall an okay movie, but not great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Dean E The carrousel scene is amazing. Love the saw franchise. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Noelle S Amazing film, just like every other Saw movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Holy M The best movie in the franchise in my opinion. Both plot lines in the story are fantastic and the ending is spectacular Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Read all reviews
