Robert Abele Los Angeles Times A fully absorbing character study of who the system is most likely to fail when promise is stoked, but not followed through on. Oct 4, 2018 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times "Scaffolding" seems somewhat torn when it comes to telegraphing its own intentions. Its ambiguities of character take a back seat to a trite upshot. Audience Member Nasty pack of sturdy 17 yr old bearded thugs who look about 24 taunt and harass a sensitive teacher to suicide. No reviewer mentioned early scene where our 'hero' rips the shirt off a fellow called Ahmed who seems to be a school gardener. Our 'hero'. and mates, think he has no right to wear the same name brand of trendy t-shirt the hero has just got for birthday. He gets into trouble with school over this blatant assault and when his father comes to collect him that is when he slaps him across the face. The least he deserves in my opinion. He tries to get out of it by saying 'I said I was sorry didn't I?' A mere form of words with no sincerity. I just wonder that no review has made any point of the thuggish standover tactics, for instance with the replacement woman teacher they get when Rami dies, these young men apparently feel quite entitled to have, and their ignorance and illiteracy. Some questions should be raised about the society which facilitates the development of these types of people, eg: the way they are spoonfed answers to make sure they "matriculate", eg: allowed to do an "oral" as reading and writing is not their style, and the use such a society intends to put them to. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this idea-gorgeous movie. I watched it for one breath. Now I am rewatch it on boxxy software.
