SCHOOLGIRLS is the story of Celia, an 11-year-old girl who studies at a nuns' school in 1992. Celia is a good girl; she is a responsible student and a considerate daughter. The arrival of a new classmate will open a little window through which Celia will discover a whole new world. Together with her new friend and some older girls, Celia will enter a new stage of her life: adolescence, the stage of first-times. Her body needs to experiment, try new things, and stop being a little girl, even if that entails confronting her mother and everything that meant comfort and security.

Jonathan Holland The Hollywood Reporter The performances from these young actors are terrific when taken separately, but what works best is the dynamic between them, and some of the looks that these dark-eyed girls exchange are so rich that they are little movies in themselves. Mar 17, 2020 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage It's almost a mosaic. A series of vignettes, in aspect ratios between 1:75 and 1:37, that immediately takes us to the past. After many scenes depicting a lonely child desperate for the attention of her unresponsive mom, the big reveal is hardly a surprise.
