Scream 7 lacks any semblance of its energy on either the horror or the comedy side of things. It’s not scary, and it’s not that funny. I wish some studio executive had the bravery to kill the franchise. Be sure to shoot it in the head.

I’d also possibly argue that this franchise has now exhausted its own mythology to the point that there’s really no way it can continue without feeling so contrived that it starts to undermine and pollute its legacy.

Just watched Scream 7 and honestly it had me guessing who the killer was all the way to the end, the twists were pretty sick and kept things interesting even when it felt a little all over the place, and at this point you’re really watching because you’re already invested in the franchise, but for that it does the job and is still worth a watch if you’re a fan.

Scream 7 tried to tie it itself to the franchise but it was not a clear path. Tying the killers to a mental institution was a stretch. Good bloody scenes but not a true Scream. Why bring Gail Weathers in then give her role a small part?
