Audience Member amor prohibido? pq? tan tiernos que vuelan juntos Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those films that sits with you for a long time afterwards. Deals with such taboo material (at least by North American standards), an adult cop falling in love and having a sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl. But instead of demonizing the characters--something you'd expect in the hands of American film-makers--the story is sympathetic, erotic, but not without consequences to the characters. Intelligent writing with strong indictments of contemporary society's superficial morality. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty much a Japanese take on the story, Lolita, with a few extra twists. It did a fine job in telling the story it wanted to. Nothing spectacular tho. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was too deep to put into words... Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times Decidedly uneven yet intriguing. Rated: 3/5 Nov 10, 2005 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post A dirty old man's delight. Rated: 2/4 Sep 30, 2005 Full Review Dana Stevens New York Times Shoujyo: An Adolescent seems to be several movies at once: a hard-boiled detective story, a Lolita-style intergenerational romance and a family psychodrama complete with pat Freudian flashbacks. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 30, 2005 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com To confuse this with a touching May-December romance like Lost in Translation could bring a very early end to date night. Rated: 3/5 Sep 21, 2006 Full Review Mark Olsen L.A. Weekly The film is perhaps best thought of as part cultural curiosity, part obscurantist's delight. Nov 10, 2005 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide You could be forgiven for missing the thematic underpinnings amidst the long, fetishized sex scenes.
