Apart from some modestly inventive carnage and an undeniably humorous hambone turn by Malcolm McDowell, there's really nothing here to make genre fans dash through the snow (or maneuver through traffic) to megaplexes. Go to Full Review

The movie's intended audience will likely be satisfied by its parade of gory mayhem, cheap thrills and groan-worthy dark humor. Everyone else: You're on your own. Go to Full Review

Ash P @AshParth 2d Yeah, despite some flaws, I had fun with this movie. Honestly, it didn't feel too much of a remake despite as description says that it is since it is maybe due to the references to the first two Silent Night, Deadly Night movies, including that one from Black Christmas. It has some good acting, some good kills while sometimes the police aren't always on track with the killer until Aubrey had figured it out due to one little hint within the third act. It's worth checking out whether you've seen the previous Silent Night, Deadly Night movies or not. I will give Silent Night (oddly not Deadly Night) six killer Santa Claus ready to cook with a flamethrower out of ten. 6/10. Yeah, I forgot to mention that this Santa packs a friggin' flamethrower yet only uses it a couple of times. Oh, well. Gotta reserve that fuel, amirite? See more Dave C 5d Gratuitous rampaging sadistic violence in a red and white suit. It's delivered as though a softcorre porn movie, with the script and acting performances in line with the same. Bizarrely, on that hammy, crappy level, it works. Its overcooked efforts at sincerity deliver more as sardonic humour, which is what I think carries the film from start to finish, and I enjoyed it as a result. I get the impression this would be a great watch, stoned! See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Nov 30 Silent Night (2012) is a complete disaster from start to finish. This horror film fails on nearly every level, from acting to screenplay, creating a jarring experience that leaves the audience frustrated rather than entertained. The performances are wooden and unconvincing, and instead of elevating the story, they clash with the already weak screenplay, resulting in a back-and-forth disaster that never feels cohesive or engaging. The screenplay itself is poorly structured, lacking tension, creativity, or any sense of purpose. Scenes feel thrown together, dialogue is awkward, and the plot never builds toward anything satisfying. It’s almost painful to watch how the story limps along, attempting suspense but failing to generate even a modicum of interest or investment from the viewer. The Director seems completely lost, opting to follow a vision that neither aligns with the story nor engages the audience. Choices that could have added depth or suspense are ignored, leaving the film feeling hollow and directionless. It’s clear that no effort was made to create a compelling or thoughtful horror experience. Technical elements do little to redeem the movie. Cinematography, pacing, and editing all feel sloppy and disconnected. There’s no rhythm to the scares or narrative beats, and moments that should have delivered tension instead fall flat, leaving the viewer disoriented and bored. Ultimately, Silent Night fails to deliver even the basic expectations of a horror film. There’s no suspense, no memorable performances, and no compelling story beats. Every attempt at intrigue or drama collapses under the weight of poor direction and uninspired writing. This is a film that is nearly impossible to recommend. It exemplifies how a horror movie can go completely wrong when acting, screenplay, and direction all fail simultaneously. Watching it is more an exercise in endurance than entertainment, and it’s unlikely anyone would revisit it willingly. See more Garry A @heavyg Jul 27 The acting is either over the top or campy. There are a few good one liners. The killings by an intimidating Santa are really cool. See more Logan D Dec 20 A man dressed as Santa Claus terrorized a small town. There is one scene in which I said, "Hey, that's like the famous scene in Silent Night, Deadly Night." I had no idea this is a remake of that film (which I haven't seen). This movie is moderately enjoyable although having some issues. One suspect disappears so long from the narrative you forget he's a suspect. And why did they get an actor like Malcolm McDowell and have him spouting trite sayings from bad cop movies? See more Mark J 12/03/2024 Not the best acting in the world and pretty standard kills. Just a film that demands nothing of you which is alright sometimes. See more Read all reviews
