If the animation under the direction of Tim Johnson and Patrick Gilmore wasn't so compelling, you could just close your eyes and listen. Go to Full Review

Despite the cool monsters, the cute slobbering dog and Catherine Zeta-Jones's swashbuckling Marina, "Sinbad" comes off as surprisingly unmagical, with characters you only half care about. Go to Full Review

Fun, if standard, animated adventure with battles, innuendo. Go to Full Review

It's certainly not the worst of DreamWorks, but I can see why it has been basically forgotten. Go to Full Review

The quaintly hand-painted cityscapes of Syracuse are pretty. It would be nice if there was something going on in the foreground. Go to Full Review

Sadia R @RT53726497 Aug 16 Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas has a wonderful animation style. The 3D animation is hard to defend, but considering it came out in 2003, I can give it a pass. Hats off to the creative imagination behind it. The music is awesome—soothing and perfectly matched to each scene. Sinbad is complicated. He's a scumbag most of the time: selfish, dishonest, and irresponsible. But when it truly matters, he rises to the occasion. "Stealing his friend's girl" sounds evil, but that oversimplifies it. Marina and Proteus were never in love; their relationship was more obligation than romance. Even after developing feelings, Sinbad and Marina try to do the right thing until Proteus lets Marina go. The side characters are absolute homies—funny and helpful when needed. Highly underrated and misunderstood. Underneath the adventure, it's a story about loyalty, responsibility, freedom, and choosing to do the right thing when being selfish would be easier. Definitely not for simple-minded people! See more Jace A @RT46125906 Jun 3 Sinbad is a fantastic and forgotten gem that subverts expectations of the viewer. The cast of this movie is incredible, Brad Pitt and CZJ have a lot of chemistry that makes the viewer ask a lot of deep questions to themselves, such as: "how far would you go to save someone you love?" or "would you chase your passion even it meant risking everything?". Overall this movie teaches kids that it is never late to become a better person, and that you shouldn't let other's judgement define who you truly are. Sinbad and his crew also symbolize the seven deathly sins in very clever ways (for example Spike, he is a clear embodiment of Gluttony). But they must all work together and overcome their flaws and reach Tartarus to save Protheus. Note: I also think that Eris is a fantastic villain, a true agent of chaos that just wants to have a fun time. Even when she is "defeated", she still seems to win since she enjoyed messing with the citizens of Syracuse and Sinbad. See more Rick H. @ftumph Nov 2 I absolutely love this movie. The music is great and it has a plot that makes sense. But the thing I love most about this film is that every character is likable and is doing the right thing from their perspective. See more Novaki T @RT05751337 Sep 5 I just watched The Road to El Dorado and this felt flat and boring in comparison. The backgrounds were very pretty to look at but the foreground was a bit dull visually. The action seemed to come out of nowhere and felt disconnected from the rest of the plot. I wish the villain would have had more edge to her. I wish the story had more bite. It was like any and all edges got filled off to a perfectly uninteresting roundedness. My favorite part was the unexpected maturity of both the romance and the ending. See more Pedro Henrique C @Pedro2005 08/27/2025 Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2004) is a well-made adventure that engages the audience from beginning to end, the graphics are very good. The only thing I didn't like was the main plot, it should have been more in-depth.
