Crooked nightclub owners Smiley Clark (Sam Levene) and Chesty Martin (Morgan Conway) learn that their hatcheck girl, Carol (Dorothy Lovett), and her struggling songwriter cousin, Chow (Bert Lahr), are the missing heirs to a millionaire's fortune. Their plan to murder Chow and get Carol to marry Smiley gets complicated by Chow's songwriting partner, Tommy (Buddy Ebsen), and his best friend, Luke (Don Barclay), who find themselves drawn into an increasingly wacky scam.
