ashley h Skirts Ahoy is a decent film. It is about three young ladies sign up for some kind of training at a naval base. Esther Williams and Joan Evans give good performances. The script is a little slow places. Sidney Lanfield did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor and the music. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Minor musical that even though its set in the service still manages to get Esther in the water at regular intervals. Debbie Reynolds and Bobby Van pop up for a manic guest number that comes out of nowhere. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member ok post WWII WWII musical Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member MGM musical about three sailors on leave in Chicago, but this is definitely not ON THE TOWN; this time, the sailors are WAVES and - because it's an Esther Williams film - there will be swimming. It's nice to see Vivian Blaine (even in a thankless role like this one), and Debbie Reynolds & Bobby Van appear in a specialty number, "Oh! By Jingo."
