Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express It's not about poverty pornography. It's not about a White guy showing us touchy Brown-skins squatting by the rail-tracks. In the end, it's just about a film, which sweeps you up and takes you for an exhilarating ride on the wild side. Jan 27, 2018 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) Slumdog Millionaire is an exhilarating ride -- a feel-good yarn about a Mumbai street kid directed by Danny Boyle with a wild energy that makes even Trainspotting (Boyle's calling card) look leaden-footed. Rated: 4/5 Feb 22, 2015 Full Review Ryan Gilbey New Statesman There are so many frantic pursuits through heaving streets that it is easy to lose track of who is chasing whom, or why. Energy and urgency are substituted for realism. Feb 22, 2015 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Danny Boyle has mastered the modern fairy tale. Eliminating fantasy from the equation and finding magic in the everyday, he’s grounded the dreamy storybook experience with realistic settings and circumstances that don’t diminish the fateful exhilaration Rated: 4/4 Mar 7, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Danny Boyle’s underdog movie about a slum kid in India who defies all odds and follows his heart into the final rounds of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” was the most unabashedly, tragically, rapturously romantic film of 2008. Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Mark Johnson Awards Daily Admittedly, the narrative can be unapologetically sentimental, but Boyle and his team execute it with such finesse that it becomes impossible not to embrace this tender film. Fer S Not bad, I just found it boring. I did not feel interested in the characters. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review kimberley w Real and raw. An insight into a culture and suffering that most of the planet would never get insight into. Incredibly directed, acted and produced. A beautiful and profound movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Priyan B Nail biting masterpiece. 8.7/10 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/24 Full Review Average P One of those rare cinema experiences from which you emerge thinking - wow! I have never experienced anything like that. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/23/24 Full Review Dennis N This film was made with pride. It's a nice movie. Storyline direction presentation was very good. Actors acting were too good. Songs were also good. It's true that in India there child labor problem is there a lot our Indian government is not taking initiative action against child labor. The film is rough and stylish. Director Danny Boyle never waters down the gruesomeness of his story that, while not necessarily a true one, offers a unique and tough approach to the life of the Indian underworld from a great perspective of an unfairly treated character, using the premise as the storytelling engine, and delivering a great use of narrative flashbacks and current events, this drama might go onto over-the-top corners at times, but it's effectivity relays of the professionalism of Boyle's direction. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Aidan B Fantastic work from director Danny Boyle that makes it stand out amongst his best works, "Slumdog Millionaire" takes a generic story and manages to make it seem fresh, unique, and one of the most vibrantly dazzling and uplifting movies in the history of recent filmmaking.
