After serving time for a crime that he didn't commit, Poke Jackson (Timothy Bottoms) returns to his hometown in Texas. Poke hopes to reunite with his girlfriend, Mary Lee (Susan George), and their son, and move away to California. However, his plans are crushed when he discovers that his girlfriend is dating Sheriff Duke (Bo Hopkins), the corrupt cop who framed him in the first place.
