When federal officials learn that inmate Dice Mathews (Joseph Downing) appears to be counterfeiting money and smuggling it out of prison, government agent Lt. "Brass" Bancroft (Ronald Reagan) poses as a prisoner and moves into a jail cell. With assistance from Gabby Watters (Eddie Foy Jr.), his sidekick, and Peggy Parker (Margot Stevenson), whose father was recently murdered by members of Mathews' crime syndicate, Bancroft risks his life to stem the flow of fake money.
