What a strange psychological thriller. It's weird to see Bronson play the role of the victimized/vulnerable. There's pretty great acting throughout, and it's got an interesting concept, with this doctor manipulating an amnesiac. Built ultimately it gets a little too convoluted, drags on and plays like a bad soap opera...

Fascinating mainly for pairing Charles Bronson and Anthony Perkins in a bizarre love triangle with Jill Ireland, contrived doesn't even begin to describe the tale fleshed out in Nicolas Gessner's 1971 attempt at a psychological thriller. Kind of a less entertaining version of the Deathtrap-variety plot twist model, Someone Behind the Door primarily succeeds in revealing just how odd Perkins and Bronson can come across on screen. Great cinematography and set design aside, the pair's awkwardly wooden performances almost sink the entire story, and the action is delivered so clumsily that most viewers won't even care why which characters are alive or dead in the end.

The main problem of the movie is not the low budget (Anthony Perkins and Charles Bronson are enough to make an interesting movie, to me), it's the screenplay, that in some parts seems to have no sense at all. It would look better as a theater piece, i think.
