Steve D Good enough to justify a theatrical release, Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/23 Full Review a.l.jude p This movie ought to be the very best in its genre. So power portraits by all the cast and I had to sit on the edge till the end. This is a must to see if you ever loved movies. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I have to say I really enjoyed this criminally underseen John Carpenter (Halloween '78') gem. Made the same year Halloween exploded at the box office this TV movie featured the gorgeous and charasmatic Lauren Hutton as a single young woman who gets a new job and place in the big bad city. Unfortunately for her someone has noticed. He begins to stalk her by calling her frequently in very creepy ways and than things start to become physical. It's easy to write it off as just a generic thriller but there's alot too love here. First of all the screenplay which is also by John Carpenter is really fantastic. It's an almost perfect reflection of the time and the harassment women had to endure. It's also very smart in it's depiction of the war of the sexes and the independent woman of the 70s. Also impressive is the way the awesome Adreienne Barbeau's character is written. It's often referenced as a solid and positive portrayal of an lgbtq character and considering the time in which it was released it deserves extra props. The dialogue is funny and relatable. You care about these characters and they're easy to root for because they're genuinely likable. As for the thriller stuff it's effective but a little bland especially by today's standards. That being said it's still a competent, well made film with great performances and it's really well made by a guy who was just about to be mega famous. 3.5/5 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Solid 70's thriller that got lost in the shuffle. John Carpenter does a solid job to keep the pace going and keep the film suspenseful. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member The film generates some nice suspense but its finale really doesn't live up to your expectations. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review delysid d i liked this movie about a creepy stalker. but, this is the sort of thing that i like, its not for everyone Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/17/17 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rob Gonsalves Rob's Movie Vault Fans of Carpenter and "Halloween" will certainly want to track this down. Rated: B+ Aug 30, 2022 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast Carpenter's 'Someone's Watching Me!' isn't just good for a TV movie. It's a good movie, period. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast Overall this is a standard "made for TV" movie, albeit with a few visual flourishes from John Carpenter. What sets it apart is Adrienne Barbeau playing an amazing queer woman in the 70s. What a character! Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 4, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Like Michael Mann with The Jericho Mile, it ably demonstrated that Carpenter was someone too skilled to only be confined to boob-tube fodder. Rated: 3/4 Jun 7, 2021 Full Review Ed Travis Cinapse the work of a true master of horror within the confines of the television medium. And it's got Carpenter's visual eye behind it, not to mention some genuine star power in lead Lauren Hutton Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Sean Mulvihill FanboyNation.com Even with the limitations created by a made-for-TV movie, Carpenter crafts a film that has very little filler, precise camera work, and a sense of helpless dread that builds and builds.
