Alistair Ryder Gay Essential Contains brilliantly likeable performances from the central cast, with the cheesy teen drama of the first half paying off in the more emotionally complex second. Rated: 3/5 Oct 10, 2019 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Overall, Something Like Summer is very good at what it does, but what it does never really gets beyond the superficial. Rated: 2/5 Aug 9, 2017 Full Review Nathan Osborne Film Inquiry There is more to like in Something Like Summer than dislike but it doesn't make it easy: it feels sincere, but its issue with plot and characters drag it down considerably. Jul 24, 2017 Full Review Alice Stoehr Film Freak Central The film glides superficially, devoid of insight, over the substance of real gay lives. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 20, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

vuesguk Frankly, I did not like the movie, and the biggest reason was the weak and miserable acting of the cast, especially the main hero, Ben. His acting is bad in every sense of the word. Please don't make these actors act in any other work, because even if the story is good they will ruin it, and the story of the film is kind of fluffy, especially the singing parts, I feel embarrassed by them. It wasn't necessary at all. Honestly, I was waiting for the movie to end out of boredom. I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you want to waste your time with bad acting Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review Idan B The movie was kind and thrilling, it was gentle and nice. I loved it :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Konrad M The director and Screenwriter did not understand the characters. In the book Ben can be a wise ass with the darkest humor while in the movies his just a dork. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Deryk A One of the best LGBTQ+ movies I have ever watched. I totally recommend watching it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Read the book. Don't bother with this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I heard about this film a couple years ago and knew of it's troubled past in finding a distributor. I was blown away to see it was actually FINALLY available on Amazon Prime and Apple (today). Instantly purchased the film! There are few quality LBGTQ films out there and this one definitely took to long finding it's home. Made in 2016/2017 and Amazon and Apple both state it's a 2020 movie. I suspect given the pandemic streamers are hurting for new content and are buying up content where they can. The fact is, this is a GOOD, SOLID MOVIE! The story is unique, there are happy times, sad times, happy again and then heartfelt times. The acting is not the best, but it's 'Ok' and the two actors still deliver an enjoyable experience! To the studios behind the film, start making more, LBGTQ films. Thanks :-) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
