Ann Hornaday Washington Post Tough, tender and observational, “Sorry, Baby” suggests that Victor’s promising career has been suitably launched. The best, with luck, is yet to come. Rated: 3/4 Jul 10, 2025 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle I was moved to tears by the bond between Agnes and Lydie, and how Victor and Ackie bring to life the cellular nourishment true friendship provides. Rated: 4/5 Jul 10, 2025 Full Review Odie Henderson Boston Globe “Sorry, Baby” walks a fine line between comedy and drama. There are funny moments, to be sure, but they lean toward a type of irreverent gallows humor that those of us affected by trauma often wield as a defense mechanism. Rated: 4/4 Jul 8, 2025 Full Review Lynn Venhaus AWFJ.org Her ongoing efforts dealing with pain and panic are presented realistically without a false move. Agnes is heartbreaking and hopeful, a woman trying to make sense of “the bad thing that happened,” finding grace and kindness at surprising moments. Rated: A- Jul 15, 2025 Full Review Lady Jenevia LadyJenevia (YouTube) Equally poignant and hilarious, "Sorry, Baby" is proof that Eva Victor is a force of nature that masterfully defies genre conventions. A true testament to the healing power of found families and the cat distribution system. Jul 15, 2025 Full Review Erik Childress Movie Madness Podcast Eva Victor crafts one of the great feature debuts in modern memory, scene by scene drawing in the audience closer to the screen to listen to a woman’s personal grief process through humor, panic and acceptance. Mark An ok story, but the emphasis on the main character forcing awkward faces to show her quirkiness was a bit much to try to carry the script, which felt a lot like an upscale student film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/14/25 Full Review Sahar Best Movie of the Year. full stop. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/14/25 Full Review H H At turns sad, funny, and always sharp. Assured and tonally consistent, except for a few scenes where characters were presented as obvious caricatures to comedically make a point, but which also broke the realism. Highly recommend this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review Cody Wow I really loved this film. Seems like one of those films people will be talking about for a long time. I loved the friend character. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review Kelvin G It had some good dark humor overall especially in the year of the good sandwich. The pacing was a bit rough in some places and the acting was somewhat uneven. The "bad thing" definitely shaped the story but I didn't really agree with the tagline saying that her life stopped moving while everyone else around her did. It's worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review fran k Excellent acting, important message. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
