Mark Kermode Observer (UK) A slightly naff British romcom that attempts to weld the beginning/end of the affair structure of Blue Valentine to some Richard Curtis-lite South Bank soppiness. Rated: 2/5 Dec 20, 2015 Full Review Kate Muir Times (UK) Although there is amusing sexual tension between French corporate cost-cutter Eloise (Annelise Hesme) and sacked music company marketer Tom (Kris Marshall, who was in Love, Actually long ago), there are no surprises here. Rated: 2/5 Dec 17, 2015 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian The movie is competently put together, like a TV commercial, but the dialogue and characterisation are pretty unbearable, a Google Translate version of English, spoken by characters who are almost but not exactly like human beings. Rated: 2/5 Dec 17, 2015 Full Review Matthew Bond The Mail on Sunday (UK) The romantic sparks never fly, Hesme's accent fails to charm and the storytelling feels clumsy and contrived. Rated: 1/5 Oct 26, 2017 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Marshall and Hesme prove amiable company, but the gags they get are so ropey that it's all too easy to become distracted by the film's hazy grasp of the capital's geography. Rated: 2/5 Dec 24, 2015 Full Review David Aldridge Radio Times A mildly diverting confection for a rainy day, and something that may find a more suitable home on the small screen. Rated: 2/5 Dec 20, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Anneliese Hesme is so unlikable as the female lead in this cinematic flop. She and Kris Marshall go together like a fish and bicycle. I feel like slapping the casting director across the face. By the way, was she speaking English? French accents are okay, but hers is so thick, it was a labor to listen. One does need to understand the words she's saying at some point. After 30 minutes, I simply had to shut off this film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Top screenplay, understated but at times uncomfortably keen and real account of a failed relationship. No saint, no demons, no drama, no action: just two very human characters, warts and all, and some damn fine storytelling. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A very small cast can make or break a movie, but there was no problem here. The two leads played off each other beautifully and telling the story with the dual timelines was perfectly done. This is definitely a must see holiday movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched this middle of the night, post night shifts and not able to sleep. No expectations as no reviews yet on this site. Pleasantly surprised, loved every minute, moves you for all the right reasons and London looks beautiful! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
