Boris Yeltsin is running for re-election and his campaign isn't doing so well: his poll numbers are sinking and his chances of winning are slim. Republican consultants Dick Dresner (Anthony LaPaglia), George Gorton (Jeff Goldblum) and Joe Shumate (Liev Schreiber) accept an offer to bring their American political know-how to Yeltsin's floundering campaign. But when they arrive in Moscow they find their job is harder than they thought -- and they don't know exactly whom they're working for.

Robert V Fascinating story. Apparently poorly marketed as a comedy. Although many of the characters are sarcastic personalities with a lot of bravado, this is clearly not intended as a comedy, no scenes are set ups for jokes, instead it keeps the stakes and tension high. Its an overlooked, well made historical drama. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Audience Member It's a really good movie, so underrated, they use scientific and political methods that actually are used on political campains, and this is a comedy film but is not trying to be cheap comedy, it haves a good achieved humor, good use of sarcasm, without being ridiculous. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member This is certainly an intriguing story of electioneering, mainly because of the suspicious and draconian way it was practiced in late 20th century Russia. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member GENERALLY INTERESTING, I ENJOYED THE CAST, HELD MY INTEREST. QUITE LIKABLE. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Frances H Absorbing drama about the American consultants who helped get Boris Yeltsin elected, all the more interesting for being based on a true story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/08/13 Full Review Audience Member Interesting piece of political trivia. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
