Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Spinout is typical of the period, with Elvis choosing between going boom-boom with the ladies or going vroom-vroom with the cars. Red T It's a Subpar Mess. The pacing and editing aren't good. This starts out alright enough and it just becomes mindless and than by the end race I was checked out. The plot is a complete mess with the racing subplot feeling completely unneeded. The way the end race is shot and edited is so sloppy and bad. This could've had 25 minutes shaved off the runtime. This feels like a musical, racing movie, and Rom Com plots that can't really work together at all. Everything else is just ok. The music numbers are ok enough but none really pop and some are a bit catchier than others. Elvis is alright here but the supporting cast is very forgettable and the humor/running gags get old quick and fall flat in general. The Romance plot isn't bad so much as its just stupid. I can't really recommend this to anyone except the hardcore Elvis fans. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/23 Full Review steve d Below average but still Elvis. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is probably just for Elvis fans, but I had no trouble watching the movie Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member It's an Elvis cult movie--if Elvis mania can be considered a cult--and for Elvis fans, that's all that matters. On the other hand, this is a great car movie for the car spotter who can ignore all the Elvis adoration. Among other cars are the 1929 Duesenburg Model J that Elvis tows the trailer with his Shelby AC Cobra 427. There's Max Balshowsky's Old Yaller Mk IV, Bill Thomas's Cheetah 2, a Corvette Grand Sport and the first McLaren, an M1A driven by Graham Hill winning the LA Times GP, and then Elvis in the movie. And that's just for starters. See it at the drive-in, or at home with getting screen caps to identify all the different cars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review ashley h Spinout is a disappointing film. It is about a rock & roll singer who becomes an auto racer. Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares give horrible performances. The script is badly written. Norman Taurog did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Mod Elvis and the '60s ye-ye dancers! This one is super bizarre. It is glorious looking but, about as shallow as The Archies. Worth it for Elvis' sweet velvet three piece suits and silk ascots, but not enough cars for a movie called Spinout. They should have just gone full Speed Racer.
