Audience Member I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes because of some annoying sound. I'm not sure if it was a bird in the house, the door opening and closing or Belle's cellphone but it totally overpowered everything else and was distracting and annoying. Sarah-Tai Black Globe and Mail Splinters is, for better or for worse, content to focus its sights within a small scope. And there's far too much guitar. Rated: 2/4 Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Chris Knight National Post A remarkably assured story of love, loss and family, set in rural Nova Scotia. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 2, 2020 Full Review Alistair Ryder Gay Essential Splinters takes a melodramatic premise and brings it down to earth. Rated: 3/5 Mar 27, 2019 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension If you're the type of person given to eye-rolling, you'll probably do so here. And yet, despite some rough patches, the movie's pure charm often prevails. Oct 4, 2018 Full Review Michael Sicinski Cinema Scope Splinters has the makings of a bedroom farce, but it is actually played, um, straight. Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Norman Wilner NOW Toronto The movie is best when he steps back and lets Banzhaf hold the screen. Rated: 3/5 Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
