Also the “comedy” moments were terrible because none of it was funny and there were just too many of those moments. Another thing about the story that bothered me was the introduction of Spock’s brother. How come we are just now learning about him? That was ridiculous to me. Visually at times the special effects looked weak. Overall to me this was a waste. Good ideas executed very poorly. And although shatter directed this movie it really didn't match the same usual thrill that the original crew films have. The music was brilliant as per usual but the whole film had a strange disconnected feel about it. The klingon Bird of prey fight with the Enterprise was a one photon pop and nothing more. With the bird of preys planetary visit at the end of the movie remaining more interesting than the single shot battle before this. The beginning of the movie had an unusual Star wars jabba the hut feel about it on the planet of peace. With multy breastfed cat women dancers and other unusual aliens that you really don't see in the star trek universe. Spocks super turbo rocket feet boots felt like an add on to a dying kids toy range. And was just a bit odd for a vulcan to use considering the way vulcans are. Overall, although not complete trash it's my least favourite star trek movie of the original cast. It's just not the trek I enjoy. This movie really showed how strong the bond was between the main characters and how together they can face anything in space or on shore leave. The cast makes this a Fun movie.
