Ron B It's dreck, full of Shatner overacting, but at it's worst it's ten times the movie that ST: Section 31 is. Rated 2.5/5 Stars •  Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Alex N Underrated movie This definitely isn't the best Trek, however I don't think this film deserves to be this low, sure the story is probably one of the weakest Trek has for films. Some of the redeeming scenes in this film would be the opening scene camping at Yosemite, the scenes with Kirk, Spock and McCoy are usually ones I love, and don't get me started on the scene with McCoy and his dad, that scene probably is the best acting I've seen from DeForest Kelley as McCoy he has some great emotion in the scene, Sybok had the chance to be one of the most interesting characters unfortunately he never shined through completely in my opinion. But be warned that the story itself is neither good or memorable, and the VFX are really lackluster given that ILM wasn't the studio that did them. Shatner's story makes the rest of the crew look inept and stupid while Kirk seems to be the only one with half a brain. If you go into it thinking it is a comedy or a parody of Star Trek, then you won't be unhappy at the end.
