John Tones Espinof Affected by a competent but impersonal CGI animation and, of course, unable to convey the emotion of real actors, 'Traitor of Mars' works as a noisy and decaffeinated substitute for the first film. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 13, 2019 Full Review Kat Hughes THN The film was set in a futuristic world where mankind was engaged in a galactic war with giant alien insectoids. It was the perfect blend of camp, propaganda, testosterone and violence. Rated: 3/5 Aug 23, 2018 Full Review J.R. Southall Starburst It's not overly engaging, and other than in its politics it doesn't say an awful lot. Rated: 5/10 Jan 17, 2018 Full Review Travis Leamons Birth.Movies.Death. Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars will not score high points for originality. The action is okay for what it is, but aside from the villain, Neumeier relies too much on nostalgia instead of forging ahead. Nov 13, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

James A The bad writing is unwatchable. It is so very much filled with tropes. This was meant for pre-teens to watch. Guess what, pre-teens can watch animation with good writing as well! I just don't understand. How much can good/decent writing add to the cost of making a TV show? Like how much of the budget is writing? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Andrea F Childish, quite poor characters building, again not canon aligned armors Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review Adrian M What a title! It just sounded so exciting! And, as the second Japanese anime movie adaptation of the Starship Troopers franchise, and 5th overall, this had the feel of bringing the imagination of Japanese animation into an America franchise. And what did it bring? It brought fantastical animation and overly-dramatic characters to a series that wasn't about that. It just looked out of place. Even when it was dubbed back into English, with some of the voices from the original movies back into it (but not all), it still lost that original flavour, and quite frankly I forgot what the point of it was. It was hard to find it, and I wanted to complete the set, of 3 live-action movies, 2 Japanese animation movies and 1 German short fan-film. There is apparently a TV series as well, and I don't know if I want to try to find that. This is probably not worth watching as a standalone, but if you want to complete the universe then you may as well. You can live-stream it for free, but it's a little bit difficult to achieve, but it is possible. I gave it 4/10. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Possibly the least inconsistent Starship Troopers sequel, "Traitor of Mars" is - surprise, surprise - actually kinda alright. Although it's far from a display of masterful or slick writing, it's far from boring either, thanks to several mildly engaging sequences and a few decent plot points. Of course, it is also light years away from the original and never manages to become anything more than a B movie at best, what with the video game aesthetics and a shortage of personality or originality. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Feels like a proper sequel to the Original movie, with slightly less propaganda and more bug-stomping.
