Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) It’s got a cult film status, but should be considered among the great political films of its era. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Rated: 2/5 Oct 11, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member You know this was an exploitation film made by a woman because it-gasp- humanizes its four subjects and secondly has nudity in contexts in which people are typically nude. Which makes sense since Rothman later stated she never knew she was making an "exploitation" film- she just wanted to explore themes that were relevant to women at the time within the framework given to her by Corman. So what you get is a weird little film about four naive and 'sexy' young nurses and their romps with men.... oh and abortion, drugs, race, police violence, medical ethics and political revolution. In that way, despite a hefty dose of 60s/70s corniness and bad set ups, you end up with a fairly fascinating peak into what was relevant in 1970 through the lens of a seemingly frivolous film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Stephanie Rothman's first film for Roger Corman is amazing, might sound like just another sexploitation film but there is much more below the surface. The nurses not only have to face the pressures of their jobs, but also the stress of the times. Each nurse seems to have her own issues going on besides nursing that really helps the pacing and makes the film so much more dynamic, somewhat resembles an Altman film in a lot of ways. Much smarter and artistic than one would think, highly recommended!
