Anil Kapoor brings gravity to a story that trips itself up with an overlong screenplay. Go to Full Review

Subedaar reminds me of the kind of old-fashioned crime thriller fronted by a hero clashing with the corrupt system, and individuals, that used to give mainstream Bollywood its heft. Go to Full Review

The film, truth be told, leans heavily on his presence. Strip away Anil Kapoor and you have a fairly standard action template; keep him, and you have gravitas, nostalgia and sinew holding the enterprise together. Go to Full Review

Subedaar is a good one-time watch that needs to be on your binge list for the brilliant performances by the cast. Go to Full Review

The overwritten script, which proceeds on two tracks and then several, can’t quite bring all its strands together. Go to Full Review

For a while, it teases the possibility of becoming a gripping drama anchored by a magnetic Anil. But as the narrative continues, the film seems unsure of what it wants to say or where it wants to land. Go to Full Review

Alternate T @Former108 1d How do people have money to produce such crap? Are people expected to watch because Anil Kapoor is lead? Does every villain have to look and behave the same? If you have money to waste and time to kill, go eat something outside. Don’t subject yourself to this. See more Prabhathalovesmovies T @RT63593846 3d Suresh Triveni's Subedaar is a cross between the masala cinema of 70's and 80's with a dash of western influence. Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan majorly make this old school masala work. The fractured father and daughter relationship with a strong female protagonist makes it a cut above your usual action drama. My full review available in own website rigoberthareviews.com See more Ash B @AshBond 4d Anil Kapoor should stop doing hero roles. He is fit for only mature roles. Very weak story line. Mona Singh’s dialogue delivery lacks energy and failed to bind the audience. Overall, a week outcome. See more Sharang L @Scribe187 4d Visceral, edge-of-the-seat stuff! Kapoor gives it his everything in a role that proves he is one of the most underrated Indian actors. Climax could have been tighter though. See more Yash G. @yash22 4d This is the perfect example of correct execution but wrong planning. The cinematography, scenes and acting was done perfectly (this is the execution of the movie.) The story on the other hand was a bit sloppy (this is the wrong planning.) The movie had so much potential with the way it was set up but instead it left us a bit confused and extremely unsatisfied at the end. Apparently it’s a trend now in Indian cinema to not finish a story in one movie. This leads directors to bore the audience with unnecessary scenes just to increase their run time and have the audience purchase a second ticket. This movie did the same, it introduced a big problem (mafia) but besides that the movie did nothing else. Spoiler alert before I dive into more details: There was no resolution of the problem instead now the problem has changed. After they got prince they let all the other gang members just walk away? I was a bit confused there but maybe I’m bringing a different background to this so I’ll let that slide. Next, the biggest point, they never told us why subedaar was even there in the first place. I find it shocking that after 2 hours 30 mins I don’t even know the background of his purpose in being there. Rather the movie kept on drilling in the fact his wife died. It really felt like this was just designed to drag on. If anything this movie feels like it’s trying to put a series level story in a movie. I’m sure the story has potential but I think the directors got lost in the 2 part fantasy that they really dropped the ball on this one. They should have made it longer into a series or shorter by cutting down. This middle ground is awkward. The only reason I’m giving this movie 2.5 stars is because the cinematic scenes were done really well. Though there were a lot of cuts in the movie as in one scene to another again and again, I still enjoyed it as each scene was done very well. Additionally acting on everyone’s end was amazing, it was able to bring that level of emotion that makes movies enjoyable and immersive. Overall I’d say if you are really free and want to pass time this movie fits that need but don’t expect the story to hit as much.
