Brian Lowry CNN.com What Red Son does, in an effective and perhaps unexpectedly timely way, is consider the extent the flag to which one pledges allegiance defines and shapes the man. Feb 25, 2020 Full Review Courtney Lanning Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Superman: Red Son isn't a bad film. It's just a strange spectacle with a bit of uneven pacing and muddled messaging. Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Jonathan Garcia Dynamic Duel Podcast Thought-provoking. ... The ironies of an unequal [Super]man promoting equality is very interesting. ... One of the more compelling DC animated films. Rated: 4/5 Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Víctor López G. Espinof Its greatest sin is its excessive simplification that ends up undermining the stimulating original material from Mark Millar. David C. takes a bold swing by reimagining Superman as a Soviet hero, and the result is both engaging and thought-provoking. The “what if” premise works well, Jason Isaacs delivers a great performance, and the story digs into heavy ideas about power and morality. While the animation is just okay and some characters feel underused, it still captures the core of what makes the Elseworlds story so interesting. Not as deep as the comic, but a strong alternate take on the Man of Steel. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/25 Full Review Connor W. Not necessarily a bad movie. Animation was great and all but the story just felt off. But a nice spin on a famous character Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Jai Gethu G A good elsewhere story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review alan g Well done animation but the animators should know their history. Stalin died in 1953. He was already dead while this story took place. A true son of the USSR would not have changed his politics. That should have been the story. Stalin was a horrible sadistic less than human, human being. Also continues diznee tradition of making villians heroes. Villians should stay villians. Not everybody deserves a chance for reform. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/21/25 Full Review Waki W It was worth watching! This film has a great timeline. This was good inspiration if superman was not born in Smallville and started somewhere in soviet country. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/25 Full Review Goose R In an alternative story. Superman crash lands on Cold War Soviet Union instead of Kansas. He grows up loving the communist regime and hating capitalism. Interesting take on the genre. Good story. 🍿🍿🍿🍿/5 on Max Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/20/25 Full Review Read all reviews
